Loved this Clare. I enjoy videos about books. I’ve read a few of these. Others are new to me. Thank you.

You've got me thinking about the 10 books which sum me up. That will take a while! Recommendations - all fiction - Tom Lake by Ann Patchett. My Friends by Hisham Matar (which was my pick for this years Booker prize even after reading Orbital but it didn't make the short list) The House of Doors by Tan Tan Eng. The Offing by Benjamin Myers. The Night Alphabet by Joelle Taylor which is a tough read in places and is written in an amazing writing style. (Have a look at Joelle Taylor's poetry first. It's quite hard hitting. A lot about violence against women. The book is written in a similar style to her poetry. Overall, I found it hopeful despite some of the subject matter but I couple of people I mentioned this to could not get on with the style.

I have read none of these Jane! and am not familiar with Joelle Taylor either. Thank you for sharing all this... lots of gems here.

Hi Clare, thank you for sharing this mindful writing activity. I'm going to use it in my writing practice this week. 🎉What I wanted to share with you is that I am an English teacher and Mindfulness life coach and have been creating and using visualisations to teach English for the last seven years or so and I've noticed how much they've changed my students - they pause and notice the beautiful flowers, they admire the sunrise, their writing has become more sensory and they are tuning in their emotions and senses more. Thinking about your post I think I'm going to challenge my B1/B2 level students with your noticing practice this week. This will make a wonderful mindful warm-up activity. 🎇

Thank you! This is so lovely to hear. Also ‘using visualizations to teach English’- I am intrigued. Have you written about this anywhere I could read about?

I used to have a website which I closed down a couple of years ago. But I self-published a book called 101 ACTIVITIES TO TEACH ENGLISH MINDFULLY a few years ago, which can be found on Amazon. But I'm considering to start a new Substack account where I can write about my Mindful teaching experience. I used to have an Instagram account which was hacked unfortunately and I can't access it but people can still view my old posts. You can find out more about my work there : https://www.instagram.com/marusyaprice?igsh=ZWlxaTJ3OHhkbWg5. 🧘‍♂️

Thank you Marusya. Your work sounds very valuable, and tools to spark the imagination in any setting, especially a classroom are so important. I had a look at your instagram and I think this could transfer well to substack- the bite sized exercises in particular... thank you for sharing
